Donnycarney FC V Hardwicke FC

After 18 League games the lads knew a win on Sunday Morning would see them Promoted to the Best Junior League in the Land Premier A.

With the club only moving to the AUL in 2011 under our new name Donnycarney FC. All the years in the Amateur League under Ramble Inn had stood to us a group. We have brothers and life long friends involved in the team on Sunday so we knew a win would get us there to what we set out to do in 2011 and that was reach Premier A.

We were at home but the game was played in the AUL complex in clonshaugh we were on a decent pitch so that suited the lads.

The wind was very strong and we played into it in the 1st half we were under pressure for spells of the game, after 15 mins we went 1-0 up a Peno from Mark Ludlow. We then seem to sit back a bit and a bit of confusion between our back four put in Hardwickes tricky winger he finised and it was all square. The dream was on hold then just on the stroke of Half Time that man Ludlow again put us 2-1 up.

45 minutes to go and a strong wind behind us we start to take our game on to a very young Hardwicke side who will no doubt do very well next year if they keep all there young side together. We had a number of chance especially Mark Mcguirk who could have had a hat trick in about 10 mins he made up for that though and got 2 in the game. Ian Finn came off the bench also and finished well, Alan Talbot also got on the score sheet to make it 6-1 and with about 20 mins to go Hardwicke down to 9 men after injury to a couple of players and had used their bench looked to the referee to call it a day.

The result means the lads are now Promoted to Premier A what an acheivment to get here in 3 years and to get back to back promotions. I take this oppurtuinty to thank a lot of people involved in the club for a number of years 1st Our Chairman Willie Mcguirk also our whole committee, And then of course the backroom team of Tomo, Soso, Camper, Colm and Damien and Jay.

The lads now go into the lasst game Knowing a win will secure the title for them and back to back titles.
