Donnycarney V Baldoyle

Our game was switched to a 1pm Kick off on Sunday. We had a few players missing Patrick Warren, Marc "Noodles" O Connell among them. We started the game very sluggish and just were not ourselves on the ball, We could not put our passing game together. we had changed our back four with Paddy missing and Richie coming in there, we seem to miss richie in the middle of the park to link us up After about 20 mins we had still to create a chance and Baldoyle who were much the hungrier and better side caused us problems. In fairness to baldoyle they looked like the side in the top half of the table and not us.

Half time came around still 0-0 and we were lucky to be 0-0 as there no.9 had a great chance in the 43rd min only to blaze over the bar. So all square at Half time and some very harsh words were said amongst ourselves as anything less than 3 points here would have put us out of the title race.

We started the 2nd half a lot sharper and created a couple of chances the the golden boot leader Alan Talbot went around the keeper we all about to celebrate going 1 up when the keeper somehow got back and made a world class save. Then on the 52nd Min up popped one of our "Casino 3" Tony Murray last week had a contender for goal of the season this week it was his neighbour from Casino Daniel McMahon with an absolute "Worldie" of a volley, he was about 30 yards out and on the sweet spot of the laces he caught it and straight in to the top corner. This seem to settle us for about 10 mins. Baldoyle still came forward and we coped well with there attacks. In the last 10 mins the game opened up and we create some more chances Mark McGuirk had came in to replace one of the "Casino 3" Ian Finn. Mark could have went himself after a great ball dwon the right to him but he squared it to Hollywood Kelly who use that wand of a left foot in the correct way this week and rifled it past their keeper.

That put the lads 5 points clear with 2 games to go 2 wins would win it for the lads and one more win would secure promotion to the top junior league in Ireland the Aul Premier A.

Special Mention to the "Casino 3" we will not change the clubs name after 2 great strikes in 2 weeks.
