3s march on in comfortable victory

Dorking 3s welcomed Chessington to Westhumble for their first home game of the season. Skipper, Tommy Chizz, playing his first game of the season, lost the toss and Chessington elected to bat on a lovely day on a good looking track. What could go wrong?

Dorking opened the bowling with Will Phillips and Conor Myers who both bowled tightly and Chessington struggled to get them away. Myers got the first breakthrough and finished with an economical 1 for 8 off his 9 overs. But for a dodgy LBW decision, Willips would have also had a wicket. Freddie Edwards was first change and picked up a wicket. But it was Travis Blood’s pace that put Chessington out of their slow-scoring misery. He struck with his first 2 balls and could have had more. George Edwards and Tim Brewster kept the pressure up. Tim got 1 wicket and Gina chipped in with 2 wickets and dropping yet another one off his own bowling. Travis came back on and again took 2 wickets in 2 balls, bowling with good pace - much to Joe Ikuta’s frustration behind the stumps who was in the wars but kept well. Trav completed his 5 wicket haul by rearranging the number 11’s stumps. Chessington all out for 101. It could have been worse if Dorking had taken all their catches... (ahem Hallas and Trav)

Dorking made light work of chasing down the target. Noisey set the tone by hitting the first 3 balls of the innings for 4. The first time he has done this after 76 years of opening the batting. Tommy Chizz and Horton were both triggered LBW in the teens but Robbie Howlett and Tim Brewster comfortably steered Dorking to the target within 19 overs, including some classy shots from Rob and some lusty blows from Brewster. Comfortable 8 wicket win and Dorking 3s go marching on.
