Impressive win for Dover
On a unseasonly hot day Dover had a scorching 39 – 10 victory away at Whitstable.
Dover were slow out of the blocks and conceded an early try which was converted.
Dover’s response was strong although they missed a penalty opportunity. However continued pressure saw Jordan Annakie crash over the line for a well earned Dover try. The heat was a big factor on the day and although the teams were allowed plenty of drink breaks, it was apparent Dover was the fitter team by far.
Dover conceded far too many penalties on the day and one of these was converted into three points by Whitstable to give them a 10 – 5 half time lead.
Dover’s superior fitness began to tell in the second half when they ran in four unanswered tries scored by Joe Dennis, Matt Ribbans, George Smith, and Joe Cooper.
This was an encouraging performance by Dover, but tougher fixture’s lay ahead starting with a visit from a strong Medway team this Sunday.
