Down Hatherley Cricket Club

Hello everyone

As I’m sure you are all aware, this cricket season has been a bit of a wash out. This obviously hits the finances of the club hard as the bar has been closed for lots of weekends; this has a knock on effect on how much we can invest in the club.

As a club we need to make the most of the fund raising events we have planned.


On Sunday Aug 5th, we have a 6 a side competition at the club. We have 7 teams confirmed so need to enter a team of our own. We also need help with the running of the event, from umpire’s, scorers and bar staff. If you are free this day and are able to come and help, please contact Paul Drinkwater.



On FRIDAY 24TH AUG we will be hosting a Race Night 19.00 @ THE CLUB HOUSE.

For those of you who do not how they work it’s simple:
We have 8 horse races on DVD, with 8 horses in each race.
You can pay £3 to be an Owner, £2 to be a trainer and £1 to be a jockey.
You can sponsor a race for £10, for this you are guaranteed to get a prize and publicity for your company or business.
You do not have to be the owner, trainer or jockey of the same horse so you can spread your bets and you can be the owner, trainer and jockey of as many horses as you like.

If the horse you are the Owner, Trainer or Jockey of wins, then you win a prize.

You will also be able to place small bets at our very own bookmaker on the night to add to the excitement.

On the night you will be able to get a race card with all of the horses, owners, trainers and jockey names so you can follow your horse.

As we have had so many games cancelled I’m hoping that you will be willing to use some of the tea/match fees plus the bar money you have not used, to become an Owner, Jockey or Trainer of your very own horse.

Please call or text Paul Drinkwater on 07894 997107 ASAP as we need to get the race cards printed before hand and let him know how much money you wish to invest and he can do the rest.

Last year we all had a great night so please come and support all of the hard work Paul is doing for these events. It takes a lot of work and organising to do these nights and as Paul is willing to do the work then I feel we owe him support; after all he is doing it for our benefit!

Please do all you can in supporting your club in what is proving to be a very testing season!
