U15's defeat Celtic
On a heavy pitch Drig recorded their first win of the season against a dogged Dewsbury Celtic side. Drig got the scoring underway in the first minute after a mistake right from the kick off by Celtic. Ross Oakes muscled his way through the defence to touch down in the corner. Celtic came back strong after Drig conceded possession in their own half allowing the visitors to score two quick tries. Drig fought back again though after Oakes secured his second 4-pointer of the game by busting the line yet again to bring Drig within 2 points of Celtic. Dewsbury didn't let their heads go down though and they pulled further ahead again after poor defence from Drig allowed them to go over 10 metres in from the corner flag. The scoring wasn't finished for the half though and Kieron Roche bagged his first try of the game after spectacularly out jumping the Celtic winger to score in the corner meaning the score at half time was Drig 16-18 Celtic.
Into the second half and Drig started it as they finished the first making some good yards in attack and it was the home side that got the second half scoring underway through Roche again who evaded a tackle to score in the corner. Drig couldn't keep their lead though and conceded another try to heap the pressure back on themselves. However, the game remained a close one as Roche scored his third try of the game leaving Joe Sanderson with a kick to put Drig back in the lead and he succeeded. With the momentum on their side, Drig took advantage and a clever move dead in front of the sticks helped Ross Oakes seal his hatrick to put Drig two tries ahead. Celtic didn't give in though and cut the deficit to just 4 points after breaking the line in midfield but James Downey secured the win for Drig after some fancy footwork from Sanderson and Oakes gave Downey a simple try to make the final score Drig 36-28 Celtic.
