10 teams took part in the competition for 5 weeks of pool games, leading up to the finals day on the 18th July. The competition manages to finely balance itself between being fun, whilst being competitive enough to interest more serious players. Each team must include at least 2 ladies or 2 children which ensures involvement for everyone and a real family occasion during the warm summer nights.
Nearly 100 players were involved on every Friday night, ranging from senior and junior players, to complete novices. The spirit shown in all the games was first class, with every team wanting to win, but the sportsmanship displayed by everyone was fantastic.
The competition was eventually won by RuggerEds NED, who narrowly beat AFC Dronfield 1-0. The RuggerEds team was a real family affair with the Jones family fielding virtually a whole team with 2 sisters, 4 brothers and father Chris!! They were presented with a new shield which will be engraved with their name and displayed in the club.
Well done to RuggerEds Ned and thank you to everyone who played, refereed and supported the event this year.
See you in 2016!!
