Dukinfield’ s U15’s last game of the 2011 season provided some sunshine on a wet Bank
Dukinfield won the toss & put Woodbank into to bat on a damp wicket, The two Dukinfield opening bowler’s Jake Fenton & Michael Finan applied good early pressure on Woodbank’s opening batter’s H Dearden & J Smethurst, restricting them to 24 runs off the first 8 over’s.
With only 12 over’s left the Woodbank’s batter’s were now under pressure to up the run rate, and make a good score in the final. A change in the bowling brought the first wicket with Nathan Hartley getting H Dearden stumped off his 4th ball, and not to be out done Liam Monks had the next batter M Godffery stumped by Alex License for 2, with the score on 34.
Smethurst & Barker add a further 19 runs until L Monks clean bowled Barker for 6 & in the next over N Hartley has Barlow caught for a Duck & Nicolls stumped without adding to the Woodbank score.
With Monk’s & Hartley having bowled their allotted 4 over’s it’s now up to Will Allen & Ben Pugh to finished off the Woodbank batter’s. Allen has Pearce caught for 1 off his second delivery, & Pugh clean bowl’s the Woodbank No2 for 30 runs & then has Parkinson stumped with his 3rd ball. (4 to the Keeper Alex License) with the final score on 71 for 9 , Dukinfield had to bat well on a difficult track to win this one.
Dukinfield opened with Alex License & George Richardson & after a slow start with the score on 10 License was trapped LBW by Barker. Richardson & Jake Fenton push the score to 40 before Fenton is caught by Smethurst for 16. Just 3 balls later Michael Finan is out LBW bowled by his Lancashire U16 team mate Harry Dearden.
The match was now very much in the balance with Dukinfield on 40 for 3 after 12 over’s.
Next to the crease is Liam Monks & over the next 6 over’s both Richardson & Monks take the Woodbank bowling attack apart to win the Lancashire County League U15’s Cup Final for Dukinfield.
George Richardson finishing on 25 Not Out & MOM Liam Monks hitting 23 Not Out off 11 balls, with 2 over’s to spare.
Final Score: Woodbank 71 for 9…. Dukinfield 74 for 3.
