I've known Walter for 28 years and he was a true gentleman. I think that all those that knew Walter would agree that this is a great loss to the local game and I for one will miss him. Goodnight god bless big man.
I remember Walter when he joined Ashton as colt in 1975 and what a gentle guy to play with. I can still remember playing against him when I went to Dukinfield in the early 80's and even in the twilight of our careers in the mid 90's.What a loss a true great of the local scene. Many a late night in the club then the Pegs Lantern and Broadoak. What a 'skolar' and gent. RIP.
