Our Neigbours lose a club legend

Ashton rufc have just lost one of the stalwarts of their club in Walt Blomeley, known to most of us as 'Big Walt'

i know that a lot of members from our club known walt and anyone wishing to attend his funeral the details are below. our condolences go out to Walts Family at this sad time!

funeral friday 10th feb @ Duky Crem - 1.30pm
then onto ashton rugby club

    I've known Walter for 28 years and he was a true gentleman. I think that all those that knew Walter would agree that this is a great loss to the local game and I for one will miss him. Goodnight god bless big man.

    I remember Walter when he joined Ashton as colt in 1975 and what a gentle guy to play with. I can still remember playing against him when I went to Dukinfield in the early 80's and even in the twilight of our careers in the mid 90's.What a loss a true great of the local scene. Many a late night in the club then the Pegs Lantern and Broadoak. What a 'skolar' and gent. RIP.
