Inspired goalkeeping from home keeper Josh James, allied with poor finishing meant Dulwich slipped to third in the table.

This was a game that Dulwich should have had won before half time, yet once Burgess Hill equalised just before the hour they could have gone on to win.

A string of first half chances started in the 6th minute when Ibrahim Kargbo fired a free kick just wide. Three minutes later, Nyren Clunis had his shot well saved by the impressive James in the home goal..

Immediately, Dulwich keeper Amadou Tangara had to race from his line at the other end to head clear after a mistake from Rickie Hayles but it was to be a rare chance for the home side.

Dipo Akinyemi raced clear on the right in the 11th minute but his effort was blocked by good defending from Fisk before Dulwich took a 15th minute lead through Nyren Clunis, as he touched home a Nathan Ferguson corner that was allowed to pass untouched into the six yard box.

Dulwich almost gifted the home side an equaliser in the 22nd minute when Marc Weatherstone tried to head back to Amadou Tangara but instead found only a home player, but Tangara bailed him out with a fine save.

This let off heralded a raft of chances for The Hamlet. On the half hour, a good passing move involving Beaney and Clunis found Nathan Ferguson on the penalty spot but James got down well to save.

The home keeper also saved well from Akinyemi whilst Clunis headed over at the near post from another Ferguson corner. Quade Taylor then saw James save his well placed effort, whilst Rickie Hayles had an effort blocked from another corner.

As the half came to a close, another flowing move down the left saw James produce another fine stop from a Tanasheh Abrahams shot.

Half Time 0-1

The second half opened much like the first had ended. Within a minute Nyren Clunis saw James make 2 saves after Dipo Akinyemi had outpaced the home defence down the right. Clunis was then brought down just outside the area, but James easily saved Ferguson's free kick.

In the 56th minute, it was then the turn of Marc Weatherstone to miss a good chance as he was left alone in the penalty area after the ball was returned following a corner, but he decided to try to side foot volley the ball home, when he had time and space to take the ball down and other players in acres of space.

A minute later,it was Weatherstone again who fired wide again from a corner and that miss was to immediately come back to haunt The Hamlet as from the goal kick Burgess Hill equalised.

The goal kick was flicked on and Connor Tighe was left free to volley the ball past Tangara from the edge of the penalty area; a fine strike but one that was very preventable.

Initially Dulwich responded well to the equaliser and Nyren Clunis saw another chance blocked just four minutes later, but from then onwards the home side rarely looked troubled.

Following Gavin Rose's efforts to spark the team back to life with substitutions, Gavin Tomlin was just too high with a free kick awarded after a through ball had been blocked by a handball.

However, with 10 minutes remaining a mistake by Quade Taylor left T|ighe with another chance from the edge of the penalty area, but this time Tangara brilliantly saved low to his right. The Dulwich keeper also had to be alert 6 minutes later to reach a through pass that looked destined to put Smith-Joseph in on goal.

With stoppage time being played, Dulwich were to miss two chances to win the game as both Ferguson and Dumaka fired just wide of James' right hand post when well placed. However, in the end a point was no more than The Hamlet deserved.
