The Hamlet endured a frustrating afternoon against a resolute Grays Athletic side who achieved their aim of frustrating the home side.

With Gavin Rose rotating his forwards from Saturday's win, and without the steadying influence of captain Kenny Beaney, Dulwich never really hit any sort of rhythm against a massed defence.

A slow start from Dulwich saw Matt Drage have to make a vital interception as Grays looked to strike early. However, Dulwich had a good chance in the 8th minute when Panutche Camara threaded a pass to Dumebi Dumaka but he blazed over the top.

Kieran Bishop then missed a good chance to put Grays in front when he fired wide as he reached a cross from the Dulwich left in front of his marker at the near post.

For Dulwich, Dipo Akinyemi had a couple of good chances but was let down by his control and also blasted one effort straight at the keeper.

Both sides then missed good chances in the lead up to half time. In the 37th minute Preston Edwards made a good save from a Harry Watkins shot and Bishop put the loose ball wide with the goal gaping. Then in the 40th minute, Dulwich were awarded a dubious penalty when it was adjudged that Panutche Camara had been brought down in the box.

However, Ashley Carew placed his penalty at a nice height and Tangara saved diving to his left, with Dumaka putting the rebound wide.

Half Time 0-0

The second half followed a similar pattern. Nathan Green released Dipo Akinyemi with a ball over the top but he shot too high, as did Panutche Camara with a curling effort. Dumaka and Tomlin had efforts blocked but, in a rare attack by the visitors, Bishop fired a shot straight at Edwards.

Camara had another effort blocked from a Sanchez Ming cross and Panutche Camara headed wide from a Gavin Tomlin cross. Tomlin then had a great chance but was foiled by Tangara.

Dulwich clearly weren't going to settle for a point and it was almost their undoing with 10 minutes remaining, but Ibrahim Kargbo got back to thwart a quick break. However, still chances came and went as Camara shot wide and a cross from Michael Chambers flew across the six yard box.

Then the sucker punch. With the game into the 90th minute, both Ibrahim Kargbo and Ashley Carew lost tackles in midfield and Bishop was released in behind the Dulwich defence to confidently beat the advancing Preston Edwards.

Full Time 0-1
