This was a frustrating defeat for The Hamlet as they failed to build on their midweek win.

Dulwich opened brightly although it was Canvey that created the best early chance when Agyakwa got away on their left and found Tuohy some 10 yards out but he hooked his shot over the bar,

The match was then devoid of chances until sloppy play saw the visitors take an 18th minute lead. Kargbo played a pass to Carew in the centre of the pitch, 25 yards out and facing his own goal. The pass left Carew a control problem and Chatting nipped in to dispossess him, although there were strong suspicions of a foul, and advance to fire home.

The Hamlet were back on terms only 5 minutes later as Drage found Clunis. His cross was only headed out to the edge of the box where Carew met it on the half volley and Tomlin steered the shot past Gough with a very deliberate deflection.

Matt Drage went close to giving Dulwich the lead when his shot hit a divot in the pitch and beat Gough in the visitors goal but went just wide. Nyren Clunis then had an effort that whistled just wide of the far post and agonisingly in front of the inrushing Daniel Carr.

Gavin Tomlin then blazed wide after aCarr chipped a delightful pass over the defence as Dulwich finished the half on top.

Half Time 1-1

The second half was slow to get going and it was 9 minutes in before an Carew header that was too high from a Tomlin free kick. Gough was then forced to block a Clunis effort at his near post as the Dulwich winger got around the outside on the right.

Substitute Kadell Daniel was just too high with a chipped effort before Dulwich missed a glorious chance to go in front with 14 minutes remaking. Again Clunis got the better of his marker and his low cross cut out Gough in the visitors goal. However, with the goal gaping Carr somehow put his effort wide.

This miss was to prove crucial as Canvey Island grabbed a second goal in the 83rd minute. Matt Drage conceded a free kick just outside the penalty area on the right that allowed Canvey to send their defenders forward. The ball was delivered into the box and, as Edwards came to punch clear, a deflection took the ball into the path of O'Rawe who couldn't miss.

Dulwich pushed forward and a Nathan Green cross flashed across goal as nobody was on hand to touch it home. However, they could create nothing else and so slipped to a second home defeat in a week
