Dulwich suffered their first pre season loss in an entertaining game with Charlton Athletic.

Dulwich opened brightly and Josh Fernandes had an effort blocked just over a minute into the game, whilst Danny Carr had a 4th minute cross headed out from inside the six-yard box after some trickery on the left.

A minute later Charlton's Ahearne-Grant had a low shot blocked by the feet of Pereira in the Dulwich goal after he had made space on the edge of the penalty area.

Gavin Tomlin then had an effort well held by Beeney in the Charlton goal, whilst for the visitors, Patterson had an effort blocked.

A slick passing move started by Michael Chambers and carried on by Fernandes and Roman Michael-Percil saw the latter's cross blocked at the far post.

However, after a bright opening, Dulwich seemed to run out of energy and Charlton pushed forward more. Two fine pieces of defending from Michael Chambers thwarted the visitors and there were a number of efforts that were off target.

For The Hamlet, Tomlin had an effort just too high and Nathan Green nearly beat the keeper with a low cross, but it was Charlton who went in front three minutes from half time.

A block midway inside the Charlton half saw them launch a swift break from which Karlan Ahearne-Grant bear Marc Weatherstone on the outside and shoot low past Alvaro Pereira.

Half Time 0-1

The Hamlet showed greater urgency in the second half and a surging run on the right from Sanchez Ming saw a Danny Carr effort blocked on the line. The same player also had an effort blocked for a corner after a fine run and cross by Roman Michael-Percil.

Gavin Tomlin scuffed an effort wide after creating space before Charlton doubled their lead in the 64th minute; Mikhail Kennedy turning in a cross shot from what looked like a suspiciously offside position.

As both sides rang the changes the pace dropped, but Dulwich continued to push forward and good work on the left from Tomlin saw his peach of a cross headed in by Matt Drage at the far post.

Dulwich re-established their dominance in the closing stages but were unable to create my real opportunities.
