A scrappy game was settled by a rare Margate effort on goal five minutes from time, following some poor defending.

Gavin Rose was forced into one change as Rickie Hayles was carrying a knock and so Michael Chambers came into the starting line-ups, with Hayles on the bench. Reise Allassani was also absent following his recent knock.

This was a game that will probably be recalled by both sets of fans merely for the result as there was little excitement over the 90 minutes. Preston Edwards faced barely anything that was on target until the goal, with which he had no chance, whilst Nyren Clunis passed up two gilt-edged chances that should have made sure The Hamlet left with at least a point.

After a slow start, the pace of Dulwich down the flanks started to push back the home side and in the 7th minute a cross from Nana Boakye-Yiadom was scrambled clear, and Sanchez Ming then went on a run but was reluctant to get a shot away and was crowded out.

Nyren Clunis then turned his marker inside out before curling an effort just wide. However, this bright period did not bring its rewards and it was Margate who then wasted a near post volley that flew wide and then a 33rd minute free far post header that was wide.

Half Time 0-0

Nyren Clunis should have put Dulwich ahead in the 51st minute when he ran clear of the home defence. He seemed to have too many options available to score but running straight rather than looking to create an angle, he hit his effort at the advancing Sargeant in the home goal.

There was very little to warm up the fans of either side on a cold afternoon, as headers from Nathan's Green and Ferguson were both comfortable saved by Sargeant as the game seemed to be heading towards a stalemate.

However, it was Margate who took the lead following a concerted period of pressure from set pieces. A corner to the far post should have been cleared by both Ashley Carew and Quade Taylor, but instead it fell to Kane Haysman who drilled home his effort.

Yet, still Dulwich should have gone home with a point when Nyren Clunis somehow failed to score in stoppage time. Nathan Green delivered a low cross that found Clunis at the far post, but with the goal gaping Clunis seemed to be distracted by his imminent collision with the post, and rather than put the ball in the net somehow scuffed it straight into Sargeant's arms.

Final Score 1-0
