Tomorrow night we travel to the heart of 'commuter belt', when we go to one of our Surrey based opposition.

It's October 24th, so I won't be there personally, as I always head abroad when it's my birthday, so I shall be in Budapest, but those of you going to Merstham then the name of the ground is Moatside Stadium. It is on Weldon Way, with the all-important postcode for your SatNav if you are driving being RH1 3QB

Their admission prices are listed on their website as Adults - £10.00; concessions - £5.00 (Over 60, Registered Disabled, Student Card Holders) & children 16 and under - FREE.

The nearest station is Merstham & it's around half a mile or so from there. Come out of the station on the platform you arrive, as if coming from London. Walk out of the exit and down the footpath. At the end of the path turn right, this is Brook Road, then turn left, which is Bletchingley Road. Carry on walking along, and Weldon Way will be on your right, It's a very simple, easy stroll. It's an 'Oystercard awayday', so easy to get to, with trains from East Croydon.

Trains are plentiful in the rush hour, twice an hour from Victoria, and twice an hour from London Bridge; timetabled to take just over half an hour. Your best bet, from either mainline station is to get anything to East Croydon & change there, if Merstham isn't on the destination board. The last trains for kick off from Victoria would be the 18:49, which arrives at 19:20. Whilst from London Bridge aim for the 18;30, pulling in at 19:02; although if you're running late then the next London Bridge one departs at 18:55, taking forty minutes, arriving just ten minutes before kick off.

On the way home the 22:11 gets back into London Bridge at 22:49; the next one is the 22:40, a Victoria service, which gets to its destination at 23:14 & also stops at Clapham Junction at 23:06.
The next service is the very last one, going to London Bridge, which leaves 23:43, getting there at a quarter past midnight.

You may want to take the leisurely option by bus from East Croydon, the 405 route passes through Merstham. Get off on the high Street, or London Road, and head down School Hill, turning left into Bletchingley Road, to match up with the directions from the station.

Merstham is basically a commuter village in the borough of Reigate and Banstead. It is north of Redhill and you can stay on the bus to Redhill, if you are there early, if you choose. If it were a crime scene then the police would be crying out "Move along, there's nothing to see!"

The only building of real note is the Church of St. Katharine, a little to the south of the station. This listed building stands on the rising slope of the North Downs. It is a solid, heavy building of flint and stone quarried in Merstham; some Bath Stone dressings were added during Victorian restoration work. The tower was built in the 1220s and has a broach spire. Much 13th-century work survives inside. The five bells date from between the 14th century and 1774.

Pub wise, for your Wetherspoons connoisseurs, the nearest ones are back in Croydon, namely The Skylark or The George. Or carry on to Redhill, for a visit to The Sun. If you do choose to go into Redhill you could do a lot worse than stop off at this pub with the same name as a former Hamlet footballing family!
In Merstham the only pub that has been mentioned on the independent Urban forum is The Feathers. After the game it's probably just as easy to have a swift snifter or two in the bar at the ground.
