Rain stopped play!

The huge downpour late yesterday afternoon brought a premature end to the Lambeth Country Show at Brockwell Park...

But it failed to dampen the enthusiasm of the many Dulwich Hamlet fans who helped to staff our own Supporters Trust stand during the two day event.

Hundreds upon hundreds of emails were collected from local people who have not been to Champion Hill, and who will be taking up our offer, early in the new season, of free tickets for them and their friends to have a taste of the great matchdays we all enjoy under Gavin Rose.

Without a doubt many of those who come along will return, hopefully some becoming regular fans.

The eye-catching stall caught the eye of lots of passers-by, who were happy to learn about a community non-league club in their part of South London. Others asked questions about the proposed ground developments, and we were happy to field questions, showing our support for them, having viewed the initial early stage plans at the ground on Saturday morning.

We were also please to welcome a contingent from the workers at the Brixton Ritzy Living Wage campaign, who were on strike yesterday, and who Hamlet fans have previously supported on picket lines.

And another chap to say hello and send goos wishes, was Paul Millington, none other than the Chairman of our Isthmian League rivals Enfield Town!

Well done to everyone who helped out, especially Guy Grater, who organised the stand for the Trust, and who played an important role in getting grant funding from Southwark Council to help set up the stall, which was also in place at the Dulwich Festival in Goose Green, earlier in the summer.

The Trust will also have a presence at the Firends of Peckham Rye Park Festival, on Saturday 6th September.
