Dulwich Hamlet fans are appealing for FOOD donations of vitally needed items to take over the Channel when we play FC Assyria on Wednesday 2nd March

A loose grouping of our fans, calling themselves 'Dulwich2Dunkirk', will be asking for donations at the ground when we play FC Assyria, of the Middlesex County League, on Wednesday 2nd March.

'Dulwich2Dunkirk' Is a Dulwich Hamlet fan initiative supporting refugees in Dunkirk and Calais. It was set up after the hugely successful collection at Champion Hill in September last year. Since then 'Dulwich2Dunkirk' have been out 5 times to visit the camps delivering these donations as well as vital resources such as food and gas as well as helping to clean the camps with further money raised.

For the FC Assyria game they will be working together with 'UK Action for Refugees' to collect food for Dunkirk and Syria.

'Dulwich2Dunkirk' has the blessing of both the Supporters' Trust & Dulwich Hamlet Football Club itself, and they would like anyone coming to the match to bring along any of the following FOOD items, which are urgently needed by those trying to live in horrendous conditions across the Channel:

*TINNED or Dried Lentils and Beans*
*TINNED Vegetable, Fruit or Fish*
*Oil or Ghee*
*Rice*
*Nuts and Peanuts*
*Pitta Bread*
*Instant Porridges and Soups*
*Condensed or UHT Milk*
*Baby Food*
*Fruit Pouches and Pots*
*Dried Fruit*
*Cereal Bars*
*Spices*
*Pasta*

(PLEASE NOTE: For this evening we ONLY require food items from the above list to be brought to the ground)

Supporters' Trust Board member Jack Spearman, who has been heavily involved in all of the previous collecting at Champion Hill, said: "Even if you don't have much to spare, added together every single tin or packet helps. Through the work with 'Dulwich2Dunkirk' I know how much difference donations can make. I have been over there several times delivering goods, and it is heart-breaking to see the conditions out there, while being humbling at the same time, to be able to help, through the work we have done through our fans at Champion Hill."

Dulwich Hamlet Committee member Mishi Morath, who liaises on Community Initiatives said: "The idea for the game came from Southwark Councillor Jasmine Ali, and she approached the Club via the Trust chair Duncan Hart. That got the ball rolling, and when Jack approached me asking for a collection of goods it really was a 'no-brainer'. All money raised on the day will be split between the 'Southwark Refugee Communities Forum' as well as our other partners for the night the 'British Red Cross Syria Appeal'. So working with 'Dulwich2Dunkirk' is the 'icing on the cake' for the night, as far as the Club is concerned."

He added: "Everyone was blown away by how generous our fans were earlier in the season. I'm confident they will do the same again."
