Dunbar combination power their way to victory

Only Dunbar's second combined match of the season took place ar
Pinkie Playing fields. Two evenly matched sides locked horns in the
first half ,but Dunbar's powerful S2 segment blazed their way through
with try's from Man Mountain Morgan x 2 ,Finlay Darrah (playing in an
unucustomed position of wing trying to protect his injured shoulder)
and Jack (Mario) Armstrong. Musselburgh replied with a good try to
reduce the arears to 26-5 at half time.

The second half saw the S2's showing much more deserved confidence
in their S1 counter parts and as a result played some of the best
expansive rugby seen this year. Young Scott Hamilton and Rogan Paul
(now at full back) showed how dangereous they can be with the former
scoring a brace. Morgan and Darrah added to their tally. Further try's
came from Matty Pickles and Jack Simmons and was just reward for
their unselfish support play. The Simmons try would of been a strong
contender for try of the season had our president been their with his
camera. The ball going through eleven pairs of hands ,forwards and backs
,S1 and S2 and dispite courageous tackling from Burgh the sea of green
could not be denied on this occasion with Simmo finishing it off and
drew applause from the Musselburgh linesman. Jack Young kicked six
cons and then retired nursing an injured knee . Kicking Prop Ross Blair
confidently took up the mantel slotting over a con and then Morgan
took aim with a long range effort giving it an almighty wollop which
sailed through the post heading for the A1.

Final Score M/burgh 5 Dunbar 66 The whole team gelled eventually.
Half backs Tom Wight and Jack Young combined very well in their first
game together . The players unlined today what a rich vein of talent is
coming through Dunbar at present on all levels. Lets not waste it. It
must now be up to all of us to provide a continuity of coaching and
give these lads the best opportunity that they certainly deserve.

The Musselburgh coach David Stott rang later in the day to
congratulate the team on their performance . Thank you David ,your
players , coaches and match officials for your sportsmanship .

The Currie Tournament lies ahead next week , teams from all over
Scotland are attending.
