Dunbar RFC Lottery Reaches £10,000

By Billy Low, 21st Mar 2013

This is a tremendous achievement! The latest Prize Winner, 1st XV Player James Kelly picked up £940.00 only this week. This just shows what can be achieved with fund raising and a bit of effort. Thanks again to Bobby and Janet for their hard work administering our lottery.

But we can raise more. We cannot rest on our laurels and just allow the lottery to plod along. We need more participants and more people selling lottery sheets. As mentioned before we have ambitious plans for the club but this all takes money and time. Please encourage everyone to do their bit to raise funds for the club. You can download a lottery sheet from the website here or you can pop into Hallhill and ask for a supply from the staff.
Everyone needs to do their bit so let’s get down and participate in the Dunbar RFC Lottery.

It takes a massive amount of cash to run Dunbar RFC, more than most would think. Ten years ago we said we could not afford a development officer yet here we are with one which costs the club around £7k a year. Running several mini and midi teams is also expensive and requires significant support from local business partners. The success we have on the field is only the tip of the iceberg. We have gone from strength to strength in the last few years but the committee are determined to improve that. We have started a school of rugby at the Grammar where the S1/2 pupils get extra coaching prior to school in the morning. This could be extended to others but would mean extending the hours of our development officer. The club are looking for a volunteer who has experience in dealing with grant funding so we can explore other avenues that may be out there. The lottery has gone a long way to allowing the club to develop but more is needed.

With your help we can double this in the next year. Please if you can play your part and help the club achieve its ambitious plans for the future. A big thank you to all who have taken part, but a special mention to BoBo Fairbairn who brings in £60.00 per week.
