History - History 1
steeped in tradition and began in 1958 when a group of mates
founded the Dundas Valley Junior Rugby Union Football Club.
The club's philosophy is to win as many
games as possible.....but not at the expense of enjoying ourselves!!
In 1971 the Dundas Valley Vikings Senior Rugby Club was formed
to keep players that played rugby with the juniors to give them
the oppertunity of playing senior rugby with the Dundas Valley
Vikings.
Over the years, the club has been successful in winning a number
of premierships and club championships. In 1984 the club won the
2nd Division premiership and 19 years later, 1st Division Suburban
Rugby's Kentwell Cup. Along with these trophies the club has
produced a contingent of players who have gone on to represent
Australia. These include Ray Price, Don Price, Lance Walker,
Sam Cordingly and Scott Taylor.
At the end of the 2005 NSW Suburban Rugby season the Dundas
Valley Senior Rugby Club folded for a brief period and was reformed
by a group of players led by Michael Lilley a player himself in 2006
who didn't want to see a club with so much history just die.
The Club over the past 4 season have played in the NSW Suburban
Rugby Union's Division 6 Meldrum Cup Competition. In 2008 the
club made a Semi Finals apperance in the Meldrum Cup in the
NSWSRU Interfuse Finals Series.
Whilst this tradition is important to the club, it is the future we are
looking forward to with great anticipation. We are now potentially
in our strongest position ever.
The Dundas Valley Rugby Football Club has the backing by and is
a member of the Parramatta Leagues Club Group and alinged with
The Parramatta Two Blues and Parramatta District Rugby Union.
We are all working togather to keep rugby union with in the
Parramatta / Dundas area and surrounding districts.
Located in Dundas Valley, the club services a large area around the
North Western Suburbs, with players coming from many areas of
Sydney. This season 2010, we will field two grade teams in the
NSW Suburban Rugby Union's 5th Division's Jeffery and Noice Cup
Competitions fielding about 60 players each week.
Our home ground is Ray Price Oval at Sir Thomas Mitchell Reserve
and provides a pleasant facility to watch a day of rugby.
We are also strongly affiliated with Dundas Valley Junior Rugby
Union Club, who field teams from under 7's to under 17's,and
with the "Vintage Vikings", our golden oldies rugby side. The Vikings
is truly a family centered rugby club, which enjoys an unique culture
and social scene.
