Sad news

2 months ago By David Quarm

Its with a sad heart and deep regret that we have to announce the passing of a true gentleman of the club, Mr Ken Fraser.

Ken passed away earlier this week after a battle with illness. He was a true gentleman of the sport and devoted to Dunfermline Rugby Club. Stalwart is often used at these times but there is no better word to describe his dedication to the club.
Ken played many roles in the club and was always willing to do anything for the club.
A Full Back in his day, Ken was proud to have played for the club. His son Richard and grandson Adam followed in his footsteps and both still play for the club. In addition he was a Referee, Team secretary, Vice President and President. He also turned his hand to less glamours tasks such as Gate money collector, car park attendant, dressing room cleaner and most importantly club supporter.
Ken was awarded an Honorary Vice Presidency and was subsequently made an Honorary President. He also served as a President of the Sports club.
In addition to all this, Ken founded our dedicated group of club custodians affectionately known as "Ken's Commandos" who still give up their time, every week, all year, maintaining the fabric of our club.
He is a huge loss and will be greatly missed.

Ken's funeral will take place on Monday 1st of October at 11:30am at the Dunfermline Crematorium.
A minutes silence will be observed at the 1st and 2nd XV games this coming Saturday.

Our thoughts are with the family at this sad time.
