Dunfermline took control early on, dominating the west pack and making a number of line breaks. A turnover in the scrum on West's ball led to Dunfermline taking the opening score. Duncan Campbell powered through the defence and fed Owen Bright who touched down. Euan McKay missed the conversion, but added a penalty midway through the half as west were reduced to 14 men for infringing at the ruck. Dunfie continued to dominate both territory and possession throughout the half with Hutt, Donald, and man of the match Valentine making significant contributions. Unfortunately they couldn't make the pressure count and were hit with a sucker punch converted try on the stroke of half time to lead by only 8-7.The 2's were then forced into a number of changes due to injury and succumbed to two early scores. They couldn't regain a foothold in the game despite the best efforts of a number of players and as they tired West ran in a further two scores. It was a game that Dunfermline should have won, and a lot of lessons will have been learned. Next up is Biggar away this Saturday, looking to get back to winning ways
