Club Development Officer David Hutchison said
"Its a great cause that we are only too happy to support, domestic violence against anyone is wrong and needs to be stamped out, especially in our homeland of the Scottish Borders, Its something you hear about and think "That doesn't happen around here" but this campaign shows there are a massive number of people locally suffering and in need of help. Duns RFC are only too happy to show support in anyway we can"
Ending violence against women is as important as ending poverty, AIDS or global warming. The One Billion Rising event is based on the statistic that a staggering 1 in 3 women will be beaten or raped in her lifetime - that's one billion women on the planet. The impact is devastating for women, girls, the men who love them, the countless people that care about them and for the world that we live in.
The Scottish Borders One Thousand Rising is based on the statistic that there are approximately 1000 victims and survivors of domestic abuse / sexual violence in the Scottish Borders right now.
Don't miss your chance to be part of a global movement, your chance to show your support for women and to make it known that violence and abuse of women is not acceptable.
