Duns First XV travel to Volunteer Park in Hawick tomorrow ( 5th January ) to play Hawick Linden in the RBS Borders Regional Shield competition.
This is Duns' third match in the 6-game round robin tournament and following a home defeat to Gala YM and an away loss to Berwick in November they will be keen to get back to winning ways against the Linden. The home side has also lost twice in the competition, at home to Berwick and away to Langholm.
The match kicks off at 2 pm, and it would be great to see as many Duns supporters as possible across at Hawick for the game. The Linden's pitch is on the right as you leave Hawick towards Langholm, just beyond Hawick High School.
The Second XV did not originally have a fixture tomorrow, although following postponements earlier in the season they now have a re-arranged league match away to Dalkeith Seconds. The original fixture was postponed last October only after Duns had arrived in Dalkeith for the match to be told that the home club couldn't raise a team - let's hope for better luck tomorrow.
The Colts XV were due to host Jed Thistle tomorrow, but that match has, unfortunately, had to be postponed. Due to blocked / burst drains, the pitch at the Hardens resembles a paddy field at the moment, and is unplayable. There is a perfectly playable pitch at Berwickshire High School, which the Rugby Club can hire from SBC, but the jobsworths at St Boswells have decreed that because the schools are still on holiday they are unable to authorise its use by the rugby club. A quite ludicrous state of affairs, but one which is regrettably beyond the control of DRFC.
