Plucky Colts go down at Selkirk
Youth Club too strong in second half
SELKIRK YOUTH CLUB 37 points, DUNS COLTS 8 points.
Duns got off to a bad start in their latest Semi-Junior League match, going 3 - 0 down to Selkirk after an early penalty on 3 minutes.
This was rectified after 10 minutes with a penalty for Duns successfully taken by Dom Ginn bringing the score to 3 - 3.
Duns continued to exert pressure for the rest of the half but were unrewarded and actually conceded two unconverted tries at 15 and 25 minutes respectively.
Duns still kept their heads and enthusiasm and were rewarded with an unconverted try just before half time. This was a solo run by Iain Sim after sustained pressure by Duns.
Half time score Selkirk 13 - 8 Duns.
Although the second half started brightly, decisions did not go Duns' way and credit to Selkirk who took their chances and ran in 4 tries during the half - only one of them was converted. However, Duns defence was resilient and Selkirk had to work very hard for the tries they got.
The final score was 37 : 8 to Selkirk.
One yellow card towards the end for a Duns player for not rolling away. Harsh, as he was pinned down and was making it clear he was taking no part in the proceedings.
