As Penclawdd lost 38-14 at Felinfoel tonight, they cannot beat Dunvant unless they score at least 19 tries in their final game at 2nd placed Crymych.

Dunvant, with 2 games to play have 44 points. Penclawdd with one game left to play have 39. Irrespective of Dunvant’s next results at Aberystwyth or Seven Sisters, the maximum points Penclawdd can score is 5 if they secure a 4 try bonus victory at Crymych on Saturday, which would put them level with Dunvant on 44.
The next criteria is games won. Dunvant have won 9 to date, Penclawdd 8 ,so even if Dunvant don’t win another game the maximum Penclawdd will have is 9 if they beat Crymych.
That moves us on to the next criteria of try count. Dunvant have scored 55 to date, Penclawdd 34 plus maybe 2 scored tonight. Penclawdd need therefore to score at least 19 tries at Crymych plus any Dunvant may yet score.
Dunvant should therefore be able to play a more relaxed game at Aberystwyth and Seven Sisters with the fear of relegation removed. Maesteg are also now safe on 46 points with 1 to play. The last relegation place is now between Aberystwyth (43) and Penclawdd (39) who are currently level on try count before tonight. If Penclawdd win and Aberystwyth lose, it comes down to bonus points on the day and final try count.

Results for Wednesday 1st May
Swalec League Div 2 West.

Builth Wells 47 Maesteg 16
Felinfoel 38 Penclawdd 14
Taibach 24 Crymych 41
