Dunvant travel north to Parc Eirias to play RGC1404 in a 1st round WRU National Cup tie and a first ever game against the Gogs

Formed as Gogledd Cmyru in 2007 the team was renamed in January 2010 as RGC 1404 to reflect the year that Owain Glyndŵr became Prince of Wales, and RGC being an acronym for Rygbi Gogledd Cymru (Rugby North Wales). This was a WRU strategic plan to get a Premiership team playing rugby in North Wales and are viewed by many as being ‘the 5th region’. They were entered into Division 1 East for the 2012-13 season which they won at the first attempt and were promoted to the Championship. In 3 seasons in the Championship they finished 3rd, 4th and 4th last year to gain the last promotion spot to the Premiership. In 100 league games played across those four seasons they won 70 and lost 30.This season they have achieved 4th place in the Premiership after 15 games as the Premiership now splits into two tiers with RGC1404 placed in Tier 1.
For Dunvant this is a massive challenge for the 1st round of the WRU National Cup and we are definitely the underdogs. However, our boys, many of them graduating up this season from our 2ndXV have never let us down on the pitch with their positive attitude through the full 80 minutes of every game. Today should be no different. Good luck boys, the Broadacre faithful are proud of you all. Enjoy the trip and your weekend away.
Elsewhere our 2nd XV have a massive local derby home game against local rivals Swansea Uplands Devs who are sure to bring a big crowd so we appeal to any of our supporters not making the trip to Colwyn Bay to come down to Broadacre and support the boys. Particularly as half back pairing Sam Gallagher and Richard Lewis are away on Wales Deaf International duty. Wales Deaf are playing England Deaf at Sardis Road,Pontypridd for the Broadstreet Cup and seeking a 7th consecutive win against the auld enemy.
Don’t forget you red and green supporters- respect the Referee, respect the players, respect our opponents and enjoy the game, whatever the result, wherever you are.
Be Loud-Be Proud
