DUNVANT 2nds WIN WELL AWAY
Dunvant 2nds win comfortably away to Seven Sisters with 10 unanswered tries in difficult conditions
The seconds notched up a first away win of the season at Seven Sisters. The game itself was firstly doubtful due to the weather, but that managed to hold off just long enough for the field to be playable, then Seven Sisters were doubtful due to players arriving late, however Dunvant helped out until these arrived, then the final hurdle came when the bus from the changing rooms to the pitch did not show up, meaning the players, in kit and boots, had to walk the half a mile to the field. However with all these obstacles we managed to get a game on the park.
The first half saw some great play with good running especially from full back Sam Hawkes but also disappointingly was riddled with sloppy mistakes at the lineout and phase play from Dunvant. However even with these mistakes Dunvant managed to run in 7 trys, three from full back Sam Hawkes and one each from Wingers Matt Richards and Dan Muxworthy, Outside Half Jac Newbury and Flanker Aaron Perkins all of which were converted making the half time score 0-49 to Dunvant.
Seven Sisters enjoyed more possession in the second half with a good scrummage and forward game disrupting the flow of tries from Dunvant. However eventually the scoreboard started to tick over again with a try for substitute Max Watkins and then further scores from Scrum Half Tom Cogram and Matt Richards. Jac Newbury kicked 2 out of the 3 conversions in the second half rounding off an excellent kicking display with a 90% success rate bringing his personal points tally to 23 for the afternoon.
This was a great win which takes Dunvant into 3rd place behind Bonymaen and Gorseinon. October starts with two home fixtures seeing Morriston visit Broadarce next week and Dunvant on the hunt for more points to progress up the table. Your support will be very welcome.
