With Dunvant having lost three consecutive home games and Wanderers winning three and drawing one in their last four games, you could say Wanderers were the in form favourites to win this one.
Dunvant kicked off towards the Dunvant end with a supporting wind and within 2 minutes wing Adam Williams-Parry danced around a static Wanderers defence to score, converting his own try for 7-0. Shortly after Adam had a penalty kick from just inside our half which fell short. On 10 minutes Dunvant hooker Ceri Davies was red carded taking us down to 14 for 70 minutes, bringing on replacement hooker Alun Rees, Dunvant home grown but now having a successful career at Bedwas, and lock Gethin John was sacrificed to the bench. Wanderers put some heavy pressure on us in our 22 but failed to score. On 20 minutes Dunvant flanker Rhys Tucker broke through some weak defending to score, again converted by Adam for 14-0. On 23 minutes a ray of hope when Wanderers flanker Sianco Morgan was yellow carded so both sides on 14 men for 10 minutes with neither side able to score. On 37 minutes a terrific break from our own 22 by Dunvant right wing Mark Robbins so him outpace the chasing defenders to score under the posts, converted by Adam for 21-0. Dunvant almost got the try bonus point with the last play of the half when the ball was chipped across to mark on the wing but unfortunately knocked on trying to catch it with a clear try line in front of him. On 49 minutes Dunvant were penalised near the half way line, some chopsing by No 8 Rory Gallagher returning to Dunvant after a successful career at Carmarthen Quins and Swansea was pinged for chopsing and the referee advanced play by 10 metres. More chopsing from Rory saw him get a yellow card and play advanced another 10 metres so Dunvant down to 13 men . 2 minutes later Dunvant prop Sam Martin was red carded taking Dunvant down to 12 for 8 minutes and the 21-0 lead looking very precarious. However, in spite of the manpower advantage, Wanderers were having a terrible game and made mistake after mistake gifting possession back to a battling Dunvant dozen. As the game went on , now with passive scrums, 13 man Dunvant always looked the most likely to score. Wanderers never threatened until well into added time when with the final play of the game centre Joe Chiffi found some space to score by the posts, converting his own try for a final score of Dunvant 21 Llanelli Wanderers 7
