Dunvant travel this weekend for a first ever league visit to Tycroes RFC at Cae Gelli with Dunvant challenging for 2nd and Tycroes playing for pride

Tycroes were promoted as Division 2 West runners up last season along with Champions Tenby United and both have found it tough going in Division 1 West. Tycroes have managed 3 home victories beating Crymych 42-12, Penclawdd 14-12 and Gorseinon 31-9 which shows they can and will be a tough challenge at Cae Gelli. Already relegated they will be playing for pride and trying to give their vocal supporters one last hurrah as they say farewell to life in Division 1. The battle to avoid the second relegation place is between Tenby United who travel to Champions Felinfoel, Kidwelly who travel to the current top form side Crymych and Penclawdd who can only sit with fingers crossed and hope they are safe for another season.
For Dunvant, after a mid season blip we have improved our form recently. A minimum 4 try bonus point win will see us leapfrog into second place and get the bragging rights over our local neighbours Gowerton, much needed as they beat us home and away this season so it would be great to get one back and finish above them.
Additionally, Dunvant 2nd XV also travel to Cae Gelli for a friendly fixture with Tycroes 2nd XV.
I must give a mention to League Champions Felinfoel who have clearly been the outstanding side in Division 1 West this season. They now face a tough play off with 1 West Central Champions Maesteg Harlequins to see who is promoted the WRU National Championship. The first leg is at Quins on Tuesday 22nd May at 6.45. The return leg is at Felinfoel on Friday 25th May also 6.45. After that, Felinfoel will also face Ystalyfera on Wednesday 30th May in the final of the West Wales Peter Lynn Cup, venue and time still to be announced. So very best of luck to Felinfoel in all 3 games.
Finally, it is our last game of the 2017-18 season, To all our supporters, please do make the short trip to Cae Gelli and give our boys your support as we aim for that 2nd place. Don’t forget you red and green supporters- respect the Referee, respect the players, respect our opponents and enjoy the game, whatever the result. Be Loud-Be Proud
