After last weeks game being cancelled due to a waterlogged pitch and a very poor performance the week before against the Teesside Bulls this game was a must win game to get back some confidence in the team .
We travelled to Winlaton knowing we needed a moral boosting performance and that's what we got .
The first half started pretty poor with the Warriors scoring a quick try within the first few minutes . The early try was the wake up call the team needed and the Tigers started to put on the pressure . After some good work in defence and attack the Tigers scored the next try with Joe Hargreaves going over on 12 minutes but the conversion was missed .4 minutes later Gary Beck went over for his first try of the day on 16 minutes and it was converted by Lee ( Ferret ) Goulding .
After some strong defensive work to keep out the Warriors the Tigers scored their third try of the day with top try scoring prop Neil Scully Scullion going over for his 9th try of the season .
The Warriors crossed the try line once more on 30 minutes to take the half time score to 10 - 14 to the Tigers .
After a half time team talk from the Tigers Head Coach Matthew Styran the Tigers really turned on the pressure and totally out played the Warriors in the second half .
Jonny Griffith started off the try scoring in the second half with some great support play and footwork to touchdown over the try line with Ferret adding the 2 points from the kick . Then on 52 minutes Gary Beck scored his second of the day with a sensational solo effort taking on almost every player in the Warriors team and going nearly the full distance of the pitch .
On 58 minutes Scott Shield powered his way over to claim his try to take the score to 28 - 10 which was then converted by Ferret yet again . Lee Ferret Goulding then went over for his own try which he also converted to take it to 36 - 10 with 15 minutes to go . For the final try of the day Ferret made a break and Jonny Griffith followed up to take the offload and run in from 25 metres out to score under the sticks . Ferret converted to take his personal tally for the day to 14 points .
The Warriors scored the last points of the day with a try on 76 minutes which was converted to take the final score to 16 - 42 to the Durham Tigers .
An outstanding second half performance from the Durham Tigers put the game to bed and showed everyone just what this team can do .
