Durham Tigers host the Durham Demons this Saturday for the first ever Open Age Durham Derby . Kick Off 2.30pm , Sunnydale Leisure Centre , Shildon
Everyone involved in both clubs have been looking forward to this game ever since the fixtures were announced . Ex Tigers junior players have moved on in recent years to the Demons with the Tigers not having an open age team before so this week see's a few ex team mates facing each other for the first time in a competitive game .
The Demons have been going for a few years now and have built up a strong core of players . Currently flying high in the league the Demons have had a great start to the season and are playing some good rugby .
The Tigers are only in the preliminary stages of building a team and with new players joining all the time most of the lads have hardly played a full game together let alone a couple of seasons . The Tigers are starting to gel slowly and showing some spurts of good play . However this will be a real test this week against a well drilled side who are consistently putting in good performances .
Durham Tigers Open Age Coach Matthew Styran said " The Demons are a quality side and I am not too bothered about the result on Saturday . Obviously the lads would like the bragging rights that come with a local derby win but that's not important to me . Don't get me wrong I want to win the game but the team's performance is the most important thing to me "
The game kicks off at 2.30pm at the Sunnydale Leisure Centre , Shildon , DL4 2EP . The Durham Tigers would love to see a good crowd cheering the lads on .
COME ON YOU TIGERS !!!!!!!
Matthew Styran
