Yate 1 v Dursley Vixens 3
A very young Vixens travelled to Yate on Sunday and came away with a pleasing 3-1 victory.
Starting in traditionally slow fashion, Dursley were exposed after just 3 minutes, as a smart move down the right flank resulted in a superb cross being drilled home from close range – Debutant keeper Hannah Simpson having no chance to save.
With their marking strategy re-organised, Dursley set about chasing an equaliser, and they were soon rewarded as a neat passing sequence opened up the midfield, allowing Annie Morris to make a phenomenal run down the right, before supply a pin point pass into the ‘D’ which skipper Eve Squire finished off with aplomb.
Dursley’s midfield continued to shine & on 23 minutes they went 2-1 up, as a fierce shot from Morris could only be parried into the path of Charlie Pretty who claimed a classic poachers goal.
2 minutes into the second half, Dursley claimed a short corner and the resultant feed was lambasted at a crowded goal area. A Yate defender could only get a slight deflection on her stick & the ball continued on its path to the bottom right corner 3-1.
It was much of the same for the rest of the second half, with Ellie Towler in particular causing problems from midfield, her best chance coming on 18 minutes as she drove into the ‘D’ before shooting inches wide. Yate continued to push for goals, but man of the match Vicki Moulder marshalled the defence well, and the Dursley goal could not be infiltrated.
Next Sunday Dursley travel to Cheltenham for a tough game with East Glos.
