Dursley produced their best league result for several seasons with a fabulous performance which lifts them up to fifth in the table.

Liz Robinson set the tone with a classic short corner strike in the second minute. The lead was doubled by Charlie Pretty when Hattie Dent drew the keeper before slipping the ball through for Pretty to push into an empty net. As Dursley continued to run the show, liz searle went close with a cracking shot across the keeper before Charlie Pretty set up Hattie Dent who made it 3-0. Shortly before the break, Liz Robinson produced a wonderful drive into the “D” before pulling the ball back to the penalty spot for liz searle who fired her shot into the bottom corner.

Injury to Ayley Moir saw Dursley reshuffle at half time but the strength of the squad was evident as they continued to dominate. Right back Clare Danks put a sweet cross in from the right but liz searle saw her shot go narrowly wide. Hattie Dent had an excellent game and it was she who set up Charlie Pretty for Dursley’s fifth goal and another superb pass from Dent set up Searle whose initial shot hit the post but her determination and skill resulted in a sixth goal. The games individual goal of the game came from Liz Robinson who took advantage of a free run on goal before finding the far corner of the net with a cracking strike from the edge of the “D”. Player of the match Hattie Dent rounded off the scoring for the home side after the umpire played a good advantage and Dent deservedly scored her second of the match.

There was still time for Jaspers to steal a consolation goal after a breakaway attack with Dursley caught out of position as they continue to forage for more goals. This victory was Dursley’s first in the league and they will hope to continue in the same vein on Saturday when they visit Avonmouth. The club would like to wish Ayley Moir a speedy recovery.
