This fixture certainly didn’t live up to its low scoring past with both teams making the most of every opportunity. Dursley took the lead when Lisa Balfour powered home a shot which should please David Clark. From a tight angle, Balfour shot across the keeper and inside the far post. However, the lead was fairly short lived and the home side hit back on the half hour with an excellent goal on the break.
OB’s posed a greater threat after the break and their persistence paid off when they took lead early on in the second half. Dursley worked hard to find a way back into the game forcing a couple of fruitless short corners before they finally got one exactly right with a typical sweet strike from Liz Robinson.
The game continued to flow from end to end and Dursley found themselves behind for a second time when they conceded for a third time with ten minutes remaining. The visitors continued to show belief and endeavour and their efforts were rewarded when liz searle displayed some skilful stick skills to evade the defence and find the back of the net.
This was a real show of character from Dursley Ladies Hockey Club and a point was probably a fair result in this second versus third contest.
