Dyce aiming to put in battling performance after weekend off
This weekend sees Inverness Craig Dunain travel to Central Park to face Dyce RFC in the BT Caledonia Caley 3N league following a postponement from earlier in the season. Following the humbling defeat at Woodside a fortnight ago, Dyce are keen to string together a competitive performance and get some points on the board in gameweek 13.
Dyce are without co-captain Rob Childs and host of other players leaving a threadbare squad. Dynamic ball carrying forwards Callum Robertson and Phil Horsfall will be aiming to crash through the ICD defense at every opportunity. Captain David Hay links with Dan Gilmore at 9 and Shea Brown at 12 creating a strong attacking axis in the three quarters who will seeking to replicate the good attacking form put on at the end of last year.
Coach Gibson commented “we'll be looking for a fast starting tempo to build on good training sessions and to put our big ball carriers in space. As a team we're needing an increase in work rate and confidence with us being back on the home grass pitch after several months off it. After cancelled games our lads are desperate to make an impact”.
ICD, who have demonstrated patchy away form, snuck past Aberdeen Wanderers 2nd XV last time out in a 22-21 away win at Groats Road. Sitting in 6th position in the league with a few games in hand over the league leader, they are in contention for the league title. Dyce will be hoping the journey down the A96 will be sitting heavy in the legs when they run out Saturday afternoon.
Saturday’s KO is 2pm. With the weather forecast to be overcast but dry, why not head down to Central Park to cheer the lads on?
