Dyce make the short trip across Aberdeen tomorrow to take on Aberdeen Wanderers 2nd XV at Groats Road in the first 3pm KO in 2018.
Despite a raft of players being injured or unavailable to play, Dyce RFC field a strong team keen to kick on and build further on strong team performances over the last few matches. With set pieces progressing and the backs beginning to play with confidence and precision, there is optimism in the squad that Dyce could upset the odds to pull off a significant result. Coming off the back of two consecutive home fixtures, it feels like momentum and belief is growing within the players.
Earlier in the season Wanderers ran out close winners 10-19 at Central Park, seemingly underlining the relative parity between the two sides, despite the difference in the league table standings. With both sides training together in a winter partnership agreement, there is extra significance attached to the result; who will claim the bragging rights at next week's training sessions?
Wanderers, who sit 9th in the table on 12 points, have only picked up wins on the road so far this season (against Moray 2nds, Fraserburgh and Dyce) will be looking to break that duck and rack up three points at home in front of their fans. The danger man with the quick feet from a Wanderers perspective is Fly half Liam Rongonui, who Dyce will be looking to shut down quickly to restrict his impact on the game.
Why not stick the 6 Nations on record and brave the blustery weather tomorrow to see both slides slug it out from 3pm for a much needed win?
