EAST & WEST HENDRED CRICKET CLUB
Preparations are well under way for the 2017 Cricket season, the 1st X1 are looking to continue last year’s championship winning form from Division 2 and hope to consolidate a mid table position in the Oxfordshire Cricket Association Division 1 topflight and strengthened by returning players the 2nd X1 will be aiming for promotion from Division 6. The popular 20/20 Downs Midweek League games will take place on Wednesday evenings early to mid summer and a full programme of Sunday friendly matches have been arranged.
Pre season events include;
Adult indoor nets at Abingdon School Sunday March 26th, April 2nd and 9th 2.00 to 3.30pm
Outdoor nets at the Sports Club on Sunday 16th April 2.00 to 3.30pm
Junior cricket coaching starts Thursday 20th April 6.00 to 7.30pm Sports Club
Pre season friendlies start on 23rd April
First league game Sat 29th April 1.00
This season we will be running 3 junior teams at u11, u13 and u15 age groups playing league games on Sunday mornings and mid week evenings, training will be every Thursday evening from 6.00 to 7.30pm from 20th April to 31st August. Coaching is available for 9 to 15 year old age groups not only providing organised active team sport for boys and girls it also provides a player development pathway to both club and county playing level with no less than 3 village based junior players currently representing Oxfordshire at junior County standard and many others in the District development programme.
You can see that the Sports ground is a busy place during the summer months with approximately 100 fixtures planned plus training and practice sessions, like many clubs we are always on the lookout for new members in all areas of club activity and currently have vacancies for junior team managers/assistants and league scorers, so if you have a passion for anything cricket related contact Ivan Mulford, Dom McKenna or Dave Jones, we would love to hear from you.
