3rd Time lucky
The Colts played Nuneaton on Saturday for the third time this season and it was third time lucky as Earlsdon ran out worthy winners 12-5. The game started fairly even and although Nuneaton were short of players, balancing the scrum kept the game very lively and with limited ball out wide seemed to negate the advantage in numbers. The first try was scored from good work from the forwards and a couple of probing runs from the backs allowed Mandip to score from a move from the base of the scrum inside the opponents 22. Conversation missed. Half time score 5-0.
The second half started with lots of indiscipline and the game lacked continuity turning rather scrappy and wasn’t until the final minutes where a good break and support enabled Alex “Birthday Boy” McBain the space to score in the corner to give his lively avid supporters the perfect appetizer to the night ahead. Christy Hernon slotted the conversation from the touchline, to increase the score to 12-0. In the final couple of minutes the backs went to sleep and gave the away team a 3-1 overlap and they scored in the corner, conversation missed.
Final score 12-5 to Earlsdon and with no other team playing this weekend enabled the Xmas drinking to continue well into the night.
