Earlsdon started the game very well at a very positive tempo with most of the possesion. We were very weel structured in defence and also attack. the breakthrough came when a very well executed move by the earlsdon backs set up Tom Walker for an excellent unconverted try in the corner, 5-0. earlsdon kept up the tempo and excellent structure and by dominating stratford in the scrums we put stratford on the back foot. with the earlsdon forwards dominating stratford they were told to keep it in the forwards so with good strength and control they kept possesion and played the phases and eventually Austin Wallace broke the gainline but got tackled short of the line but offloaded to Lewis Taylor who touched down to make it 10-0 try was unconverted.the game then started to level out with stratford determined to win the game they had a well worked catch and drive from a lineout which gave a good platform for the backs who got the ball but with one bad pass mandeep capitalised with an interception and scored under the posts to make it 15-0 but the try was unconverted yet again(christy come back when you've learnt how to kick!) finally Christy Hernon did find his kicking boots and slotted a penalty from 40metres out. half time. the second half started slowly with both teams making silly mistakes but mostly stratford, earlsdon tried their best to keep the defensive structure but eventually stratford beat the defence to score in the corner for a converted try. earlsdon restarted with a good chase and kept the pressure on working well and communicating well. handling errors by earlsdon gave stratford the confidence to attack in defence which lead to more handling errors then stratford had a scrum and with a well worked move in the backs they scored again to make the score 18-14. the game then hotted up as stratford were controlling the game earlsdon were stuggling in defence to keep them out but after making tackles and communicating earlsdon kept them out. final score 18-14 earlsdon. and a big thank you to John Walker who done a great job of coaching us on sunday.
