Earls can count themselves rather unfortunate to go out of the Presidents Cup to a goal eight minutes from time in their game at Chelmsley Town. Earlswood, who had a couple of new signings on display were well served at the back by Miguel Jimenez, Zachary Cogger and new signing Justin Jackson from Continental Star, who had an outstanding game. The home team were first to go on to the attack and were awarded a free kick in the Earlswood half but this was put out for a goal kick. Earls created a good move after 8 minutes and were just thwarted by a Chelmsley defender with a last ditch tackle. Danniel Wallace was looking dangerous for Earlswood when he went on one or two runs down the left flank but was robbed of the ball with last minute tackles by the Chelmsley defenders. Earls were awarded a free kick in the Chelmsley half but Matthew Seeley free kick was well saved by the home keeper. When Chelmsley did attack they were always dangerous and after a spell of pressure Ears defenders were glad to see Miguel Jimenez intervene to break up a dangerous attack. And two minutes later Ryan Faulkner cleared a ball of the Earlswood goal line. Earlswood attacked down both wings and Wallace dribbled his way through the Chelmsley defence only to see hi shot go wide. When the Chelmsley forwards did play their way into the Earswood penalty area Justin Jackson was always on hand to clear the ball and was well in control with a number of good headers. In the 24th minute Danniel Wallace lost the ball in his own half and as the Chelmsley forwards went for goal Zachary Cogger did well to cut out the attack. In the 26th minute Matthew Green set up a good chance for himself but his effort was wide of a post and a few minutes later a good centre from Morris was headed wide by Russell Moyle In the 39th minute. In the 41st minute a chip by a Chelmsley player set up a scoring chance for a fellow forward but he just failed to connect with the ball. And a couple of minutes later one of their strikers shot wide with the goal at his mercy. As the half drew to a close Jonathan Farley put Danniel Wallis through but the home keeper was on hand to save.

Earlswood started off on the offensive for the first five minutes of the half and a good centre from Matthew Green just cleared the home team cross bar. And at the other end a Chelmsley forward jinxed his way through the Earlswood defence only to see Hancock’s save his final effort. As well as being outstanding in the Earls defence Justin Jackson was venturing forward for set pieces and went close with a header from a Matthew Seeley free kick after 56 minutes. Three minutes later Matthew Green was put away by Matthew Seeley and after taking the ball on lobbed it over the home keeper only to see it go the wrong side of a post. Chelmsley then had an attacking spell and went close with a header and after a free kick into the Earlswood penalty area Earl’s keeper David Hancock was fouled during an attempt on goal and awarded a free kick. Daniel Wallace connected with a header for Earlswood only to see it go wide in the 75th minute. Chelmsley broke the deadlock after 82 minutes when one of their strikers beat three Earlswood defenders before slotting it past David Hancock into the Earlswood net. Two minutes into injury time the referee awarded Chelmsley a penalty when a goalbound shot cannoned into Zachary Cogger hands and he pointed to the spot before booking him. But the Earlswood keeper David Hancock dived to his right to push the spot kick round the post for a corner which was cleared by the defence. Earls had time for one more attack but it came to no avail as Chelmsley went into the draw for the next round.
