About Dermot Gallagher
Dermot Gallagher is regarded as one of England's most distinguished high profile and respected Match Officials.
Two decades as the man in the middle, Dermot was one of the first referees appointed to the Premier League in 1992, after only seven years as a Football League officials. As well as refereeing the 1996 FA Cup final, Dermot also refereed the FA Charity Shield Final and FA Trophy games in 1996.
During his career Dermot was also a FIFA referee for over nine years, officiating in 139 matches abroad, including U20 World Cup Final in 1995 Argentina v Brazil, The South African Cup Final 1995, Brazilian Cup Final 1996, FIFA Military Games Final 2001 and numerous Champions League, European Internationals and World Cup matchesDermot Gallagher retired from the premiership at the end of the 2006/07 season, since then has carved out a career as a Sky Sports and radio pundit and corporate celebrity speaker.
