MATCHES OFF AND NOW GROUND IMPROVEMENTS HAVE TO BE PUT ON HOLD DUE TO THE BAD WEATHER

Following torrential rain for most of Saturday, all ESFC adult and youth fixtures were cancelled at Addison Road over the weekend.

At 8.30am the first team pitch was passed fit for the fixture against Letcombe, however, by 12.00 lunch time the rain had won. First teamers Craig Robinson and Jack Goode continued to fork the pitch throughout the morning but as things turned out, postponing the fixture proved the correct decision with the further rain that fell in the day.

By Sunday morning the infamous lake behind the Rugby posts had formed on the ground next to the pitch and there are now mass puddles all over the first team pitch which has now not had a fixture on it since the middle of December. Fortunately, the First team only have 3 fixtures left at home this season and so the pitch has time for the water to recede.

More worryingly now is that bad weather is delaying the start of the ground improvements. The car park has started to be cleared and the curb stones delivered (see picture). Unfortunately the water is too close to the surface to allow diggers to get to work. Sports are going to be facing an interesting 6 weeks to try to get the improvements finished for the 31st of March deadline. With Storm Imogen blowing through in the early parts of this week, we will all be keeping our fingers crossed for some dry weather soon...

Keep an eye on the progress through the website over the coming weeks.
