Easington were left to rue a disappointing team performance and some poor decision making

After an opening day defeat against Finchampstead, Easington were looking to make amends away from home. Unfortunately, after an action packed opening 20 minutes Sports found themselves behind and a man down. Sports took the lead with nearly the first opportunity of the match, player manager Craig Pearman was on hand to finish well after just 2 minutes. Finchampstead were soon back in the game after some poor decision making, Chris Dean smashed the ball past Booker after he had chased down a long ball over the top of the defence. Finches then took the lead through Harry Swabey who out paced Booker in goal to a rebound that was initially saved by the keeper. In a moment of madness James McMahon lashed out at the Finchampstead defender after a coming together and the referee had no choice but to send McMahon off after 20 minutes. Sports fought hard to get back into the game but there were no clear cut chances before half time.

The next goal was always going to be crucial and early in the second half it was the home side that added to their goal tally. Sports were certainly not at their best, however Harry Swabey took his second goal of the game well despite being a long way offside. The visitors rallied again and Niall Higgins was brought down in the box. Andrew Stidder scored from the penalty spot to give Sports a slim life line after 70 minutes. Pushing on to get a draw from the match, Easington were hit twice on the counter attack leading to a final score of 5-2.

This was a very disappointing result and performance. Suspensions and player unavailability in the lead up to Christmas are certainly going to keep manager Craig Pearman busy over the coming weeks as he manages the festive fixtures.
