Our Under 8's & 9's Mini teams get a visit from Sussex Police.

PC Rachel Bourne has been closely involved in signposting local youths to the rugby club during her time as the Neighbourhood Policing Officer for Eastbourne.

After introducing both her sons to the game, she was so impressed by all the coaches who volunteer their time and knowledge to inspire confidence and self-worth in the young people, that she decided to apply for some extra funding from The Police property Act Fund.

PC Bourne noticed that even in the short time that her 7 year old has been playing tag rugby at The Bourne, his self confidence has grown, and he feels very much part of the team. The coaches are all-inclusive and take time to instil Teamwork, Discipline, Enjoyment, Sportsmanship and Respect - the core values of the game.

Eastbourne Rugby Club is a friendly, supportive and close knit community group which is keen for children and young people from the ages of 5 upwards to get involved in both tag rugby for younger children, and contact rugby for older players.

Following the success of her application, the aptly named PC Bourne was delighted to present a cheque for £500 to Head of Rugby, Steve Snell. It will be used to provide much needed training equipment for the Under 8s and Under 9s.

On behalf of the Club and indeed our Under 8's & 9's many thanks Rachel and Sussex Police.
