The East Hull U9s coached by Carl Brady and Dave Shaw have just completed the 2011 season unbeaten.
They have also featured in the local press a couple of times recently and on both occasions shown the club in good light.

The under 9s are realy fortunate to have the support of four great local businesses who all believe in helping and caring for the children in the community. Between them theyhave made sure that this little outfit want for nothing. New tracksuitshoddies, new playing kit, t shirts, balls and equipment have all been obtained thanks to the sporting donations of Louise Wharram Florists, JWH Group Ltd, Total Improvement Solutions and RAC Gas Services.

It was thanks to a new playing kit that sw the 9s first feature in the Hull Daily Mail. The youngsters have donated their old kits to an orphanage in India as part of the Dave Longley El Shaddia House of Goa Appeal. Orphans in India will now be wearing the famous blue and white of East Hull.

The second time they featured in the HDM was a feature regarding the U9s being chosen to act as mascots for the England team in the Four
Nations game at the KC Stadium against New Zealand.

And so it was that 17 of the squad walked out onto the KC Stadium hand in hand with some of the worlds biggest rugby league stars. Proud as
punch throughout the anthems and a minutes silence, they stood in front of their heroes, facing a record crowd of 24,000 in the stadium and
watched by a further 12 million fans on live television beamed right around the globe. Regarded by many as the best player in the world,
Sam Tomkins said that one of the highlights of his career so far was walking out that tunnel with Callum Wilkinson. It was also noted that
Jon Wilkin and former East Hull player was being given some words of advice from 9s hooker Ryan Steely. Local Legands Kirk Yeaman and Tom Briscoe were also impressed with the manners and respect shown by the whole squad of East Hull 9s. Former Wigan and Great Britain captain Phil Clark said that the 9s behaviour was impeccable and a credit to the club.

On the field this team have put in some notable performances including good wins against local rivals Dockers, Skirlaugh and West Hull, all three teams play a good brand of rugby so to go unbeaten throughtout the whole season was a fantastic achievment.

Off the field every team needs good workers and dedicated volunteers. This team has been blessed with four of the best, physio and head fund raiser Mike Bland, a great asset to the team, as are touchline marshalls, laundry ladies and administrators Lisa Murray and Nikki McKean. Team Manager Ray Butler said that he has the easiest job in the club. Lisa, Nikki and Mike do all the hard work and running around while Carl and David do a fantastic job of team selection and coaching.
