Monday 21 saw the under 13's finally start their season with an away fixture at Ayr. calum edmond was the captain for the day and got the evening off to a fine start losing the toss and being asked to field!
The boys did a fine job in the field and restricted a strong batting line up to 106 for 7. calum edmond returned figures of 2 for 19 whilst James Banks got 2 for 24. Six bowlers were used in all and a pleasing aspect was only 10 wides bowled.
In reply the boys were behind right from the start with only 8 men. Tommy Turner came in to bat at the fall of the first wicket at the start of the second over, and was still there last man out in the 20th over.A knock of 13 runs which cemented the whole innings. Apart from Fraser Belmore(8) no one could partner Tommy and we were all out for 67.
Plenty of cause for optimism, especially in the bowling, and a bit of batting practice will sort a few rusty shots. A great effort from all the boys.
