UNDER 10S' AT AYR FESTIVAL ON 16/05/10
The under 10 team travelled to AYR on 16/05/10 on a sunny morning at New Cambusdoon and they played 3 kwik cricket games
In the first match they faced the home team and EKCC batted first and scored251.
In reply, the AYR lads batted steadily throughout their innings and whilst they seemed favourites to win with one over to go with their score on 242,EK held there nerve and whilst 6 runs were scored, EK also took a wicket which left EK winners by 251 to 243.Well done lads.
In the next game EK faced Kilmarnock who scored 261 and in reply whilst losing a wicket, first ball,EK never quite managed after that ,to keep up with the required run rate and finished on 234.
In their final match the EK lads faced a good West of Scotland team and EK scored 224 runs.
In reply Ek bowled well and kept West in check, but in West's 3rd partnership ,their captain came in and smashed the ball around for 2 overs, which put West ahead and despite EK taking a wicket in the pernultimate over, it was not enough as West eased home scoring 250 runs.
There were some positives coming from the game with some good individual batting and bowling performances. Some work is needed in the bowling and catching fronts ,but the team is improving with every game and next Sunday sees the team off to the Ferguslie CC Festival
The team for the 23/5/10 is;-
