Alan was an architect originally and he lived in a lovely house in Pollok Castle Estate, with his wife Margaret.
He also loved his cricket ,and he also enjoyed the social side of the game .
He went on EKCC's first Cricket Tour in 1970 to EK's twin town Ballerup , near Copenhagen and joined in all the social events after playing the cricket. He was a slow left arm bowler and hard hitting right hand bat.
In 1971 the Danes came over to EK to play cricket and after the matches were completed ,Alan and Margaret ,kindly hosted a party for the Danes from Ballerup CC and everyone there had a great night.
Alan played for EKCC throughout the 1970's and he later moved to Troutbeck near WIndemere after having taken early retirement from his employmentand he and his wife ran an excellent B&B for a number of years and some of EKCC's players visited them as paying guests.
Alan and Margaret later gave up the B&B business and moved to Grange over Sands, where Margaret still resides.
If any former EKCC players wish to send a card to Margaret, please contact Alan Dickie ,who will pass on Margaret's address to them.
Alan was a complete gentleman and it was a pleasure to have played with him for EK. Alan and Margaret contributed much to the club ansd I am so sorry to hear this news.

The only man I knew with his own croquet lawn. I remember playing with Ian Campbell at a party there in mid-70's.....a long long time ago.
