Details from the recent Junior AGM

The Junior Section had its Annual General Meeting this week. Although quite a few of the parents couldn’t make it there were coaches & parents from all age groups as well as all the official office bearers.

It was Steve Newman’s first AGM since arriving at East Kilbride and becoming Junior Convenor. He gave a report on what was a disappointing 2017 due to a lack of games because of both the weather and concessions due to shortage of numbers. However there were high points with two wins and a final over thriller at Titwood when we narrowly lost to Clydesdale. These results showed that despite a lack of numbers there is some real quality in the U11/12’s. The U18’s didn’t get much junior cricket but it was good to hear that they are all getting games with the seniors.

It was also Derek Wright’s first AGM and he gave an update as the Clubs Development Officer on the ongoing Schools Coaching Project. It is going well and recently every week seems to bring a new recruit to the coaching sessions. It’s a nice problem to have but it looks as though we’ll need a bigger venue for next term.

It was agreed that following on from the success of the All Stars programme that the club would partake again next season and really try and push the advertising to increase the numbers.

Due to a change in the accounting period the financial books couldn’t be approved but the finances are in good order. There will be an EGM in the New Year to approve the books and also to try and finalise the plan for next season once the WDJCU has decided on the changes to the junior leagues.
